Did you know…?
90% attendance means:
- on average, half a day's schooling is missed every week.
- 4 whole weeks of schooling is missed over a year!
This will have a negative impact on not only your child's attainment but also their ability to make friendships and feel part of the class. How many employers would allow us to have a day off each week?
Habits of poor attendance and lateness in school are often repeated in working life. We want our children to learn early on the importance of punctuality and school attendance. Parental attitudes towards punctuality and attendance are bound to influence children's attitudes.
At Meersbrook Bank Primary School good attendance is a priority and by improving attendance we will improve further the standards that our pupils achieve and give them better chances in later life. We can only achieve this with your help.

Term time holiday will not be authorised. These forms should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the period of absence.
Is my child too ill for school? It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school, nursery or playgroup when they're unwell. There are government guidelines for schools and nurseries about managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept off school and when they shouldn't. Click on the link to the right for a list of illnesses and whether they should stay at home or not. |
Please tell us about every instance of absence, whether this will be authorised or not. Our office team work hard to ensure we know where absent children are every day, so help them out by letting them know as soon as possible! |
