Who Are We?Friends of Meersbrook Bank School - FMBS - Working together to raise money and organise events that bring the MBS school community together. FMBS is a group of mums, dads, carers and supporters of Meersbrook Bank Primary School, who work together to raise money for the school, as well as organising events that bring the school community together. Anyone is welcome to be involved in FMBS. We are all volunteers, who choose to devote time, when we can, to supporting the development of our local community school. Over the past years we have run fayres, BBQs, cake sales, discos, raffles and evening quiz nights... the list goes on. Money raised has gone towards a new library, school trips, new playground equipment, IT equipment and much more. |

How can I get involved?
Join the WhatsApp 'Class of' group for your child's year group.
Get chatting to parents of other children in your child's class, and you'll quickly find out who your 'Class Reps' are, or simply find someone who is already in the 'Class of' WhatsApp group for your child's year group and they can get you invited to the group. FMBS takes steps to ensure there is a Class of WhatsApp group set up for the new entry Y1 class each year, and that's it - sorted - you stay in that same group all the way through to Y6 (and well beyond if any of our past class groups are anything to go by :-)
Volunteer to be a Class Rep.
Your 'Class Reps' (this could be you!) help moderate the 'Class of' WhatsApp groups, and also join a smaller separate 'Class Reps' WhatsApp group, which all Class Reps join. The 'Class Reps' WhatsApp group is where Class Reps stay in touch, and where the FMBS Team publishes messages for wider sharing, and coordinates activity with the Class Reps, and in turn connects with the Class Groups. It's one big WhatsApp family really!
Volunteer to join the FMBS Team.
Anyone can step forward to get more involved in FMBS. This means you are willing and able to make a positive contribution, and commit time & energy to enable both you and others to be respectfully, safely and enjoyably involved in FMBS. You will be invited to join the 'FMBS Team Everything' WhatsApp group (we don't take ourselves too seriously! :-) and by doing so you will be able to connect with other parents interested in making a difference to the school community. Together we share ideas, discuss next steps, get organised, and make great things happen.
Volunteer to become a Trustee of FMBS.
The Friends of Meersbrook Bank School is a registered charity - no. 1093993. View our official Charity Commission record here: https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-search/-/charity-details/3985886 A small group of at least 3 people are the named trustees of FMBS. This does involve taking on specific responsibilities on behalf of FMBS, but these responsibilities are not too onerous if you have a bit more time to offer and are willing to learn what's involved. If you are interested in becoming a Trustee it really helps if you play an active role within the FMBS Team for at least two school terms, and you have the support and confidence of at least two other parents who are active in the FMBS Team and/or who are your Class Reps. When you feel ready to put yourself forward email [email protected], or speak to an existing Trustee directly.

Donate to FMBS on Local Giving. Find FMBS on Local Giving https://localgiving.org/charity/friendsofmbs/ and make a donation. Literally hundreds of MBS parents make a regular or one off donation to FMBS via Local Giving every month. This is the best, and easiest way to give money to support the school. Local Giving doesn't charge you or FMBS when you donate, and it allows you to easily Gift Aid your donation, which increases the value of your donation to FMBS by a whopping 25%.
